Samsung is advising consumers to stop using the devices effective immediately.

Samsung has halted all sales of its flagship smartphone, Galaxy Note 7, after the surface of several new reports of repaired devices catching fire.

“We are working with relevant regulatory bodies to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note 7,” Samsung said, in a statement.

“Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note 7 while the investigation is taking place.”

In September, the company recalled more than 50,000 devices in Australia, after numerous reports revealed the smartphones were catching fire due to faulty batteries.

The company offered brand new, replacement units – or a full refund – with a courtesy device provided for consumers in the interim of the new devices shipping. After this initial recall, Samsung assured consumers that the fixed smartphones were safe.

Samsung is now advising consumers in its latest statement to stop using the devices effective immediately.

“Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note 7 or replacement Galaxy Note 7 device should power down and stop using the device and take advantage of the remedies available.”
